Do you need an author website?

Over the past few years Goodwin Studios has been building websites using the Squarespace platform. They look beautiful, are budget friendly, easy to update and maintain, and offer all functions required by authors. Galleries. Links. Documents and blogs.

Part of me was thinking I could set up and offer an online workshop for authors who want to build their own author website. And then I thought, no. Authors want to be writing, or reading, or editing, or preparing manuscripts and submissions, or attending literary events. Authors don’t want to be sorting out how to build a website. (But contact me if you do, I can link you up to some great online courses)

The truth is, although I am an author, I’ve also been building websites since the 1990s. Building a website is easy for me, I’ve built hundreds, and I do it for a living. I can build your author website quickly and efficiently and within your budget. And once it’s built, I can help you learn how to post to your blog and update your pages.

It’s my opinion that Squarespace has been a game-changer for the world wide web. Using the platform I’m able to build sites that are secure (SSL), mobile responsive, SEO ready, and very fast. The platform is constantly being updated and re-secured - so no downtime! I know that’s important, especially when there’s a big event coming up or a new book ready to launch.

I can build your site to look the way you want it to look - your colours, your photos, your choice of hundreds of fonts - and add the functions you need.

This fall we are offering a special rate

$950 for a startup Author Website for the first 5 applicants.

For this you will have a lovely site with a gallery, a blog, good contact information, and of course it can feature your book(s) and news. (Regular price $1500)

Your only other expenses will be the purchase of a domain (yourauthorname.com) usually $25 a year, and a monthly hosting fee through Squarespace of approximately $15 per month.
